Rivet Nut Flanged Full Hex Closed End, commonly known as Rivnuts or Blind Nuts, is an internally threaded insert often used where the thickness of the application is too small to tap a standard thread. Using these rivet nuts creates a vital thread in thin sheets of material for high-strength fastening from bolts and other threaded articles.
The full countersunk head is often chosen over a reduced countersunk type due to its more robust head. It is also deeper, meaning it can only be used in material thicknesses greater than 1.5mm – offering the application a flush, finished appearance.
The knurled body on the rivet nut provides excellent resistance to movement within the application than knurling under the head, especially when installed in softer materials. At the same time, the closed end blocks any form of contamination to the component. This also prevents the use of screws that are too long for the application.
Installing these rivet nuts requires the use of a unique tool with a threaded stud which engages the internal threads of the rivet nut and pulls upwards, in turn deforming the unthreaded section of the rivet nut to expand under the reverse side of the material, providing a high strength permanent thread in thin sheet material.

Materials and finishes include zinc-plated steel, A2 stainless steel, A4 stainless steel, and aluminum.

Closed-end insert nuts offer a 100% watertight connection, meaning water or dirt cannot damage the thread. These rivet nuts are exceptionally safe for electrical circuits since no fluids can enter.
